Family & All that SNAS

Two baked potatoes & Tears running down my face

How it All Began

About 6 years ago my husband and I were home getting ready for supper. I took 2 baked potatoes out of the oven and began to cry.

Our two oldest children had just flown the nest and our 3 foster children had recently gone back home. All good things if you are looking at it from a statistics point of view. We want our adult children to leave home and have their own adventures- It mean we have done our job well!

And when foster children reunite with their birth families that is counted as a win in the social services department.

But for me it was a bit too much all at once. I have always wanted to be a mom, dreamed as a young child of being a mom, and have loved most of the journey!

So there I was after 22 years of parenting, staring at 2 baked potatoes with tears running down my face.

And a couple of weeks later we bought a campground!

Okay… maybe not quite that fast, but it felt like it. I throw myself into a new project.

Family and all that What?

I had been mulling over this idea that society -especially families need more, spirit, nature, creativity and stories in their lives. Let’s face it every time I turn around there is more talk about cutting these things out of the school system.

We don’t bring religion, in any form into the classroom. Recess time is being cut, art programs are the first to go in wake of making budgets balance and there Are stories, but not always the ones we want our children to know or live from.

And SNAS was born! I have tried for months to come up with a different name for my coaching business, but to no avail. It’s an acronym for Spirit, Nature, Art & Stories. The 4 main tools in the family coaching I do to help families unplug and build connection.

So ‘Family & all that SNAS’ it is. And why not have a campground to make it all come to life?! Especially if it has treehouses to stay in!!

The joy that has come from meeting countless families and providing them a space to build magical memories each summer has been overwhelming. And as I finally begin to add more and more families to my coaching program I can see that I was right! Families really do need all that SNAS!!
